Abstract

The readings of the Russian economic trajectory widely diverged since February 24th, 2022. The aim of this article is, first, to assess the extent to which the construction of statistics in Russia has been affected by the war. Second, it provides an analysis of the responses of the Russian economy to the stress of war and its perspectives, taking account of its long-term growth model. The war has ignited an inflationist recession in Russia, aggravated by growing difficulties regarding the availability of a range of products and technologies. The Russian economy is currently engaged in a progressive closing movement (fall of imports and of the quantities exported, fall of FDI and short-term capital inflows), a de-westernization of external relations with the exit of a number of western enterprises, and a growing grip of the public administration on the economy. These three tendencies seem to be here to stay. Classification JEL : F50, F51, F59.
