Abstract

In September 2013, China launched The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), usually considered to be the main incarnation of the ?New Silk Road?, although the heuristic value of this notion is highly questionable). This project on an exceptional economic and geographical scale ? more than $1000 billion invested in Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania and Latin America ? stems from economic motives and pursues domestic and foreign political objectives. A decade after its announcement, questions arise about the variations observed in this initiative in Eurasia, its continental heartland. The purpose is to make a balance assessment of the BRI?s implementation on the basis of thematic and geographical case studies in countries from the Baltic sea to China.
