Abstract

The aim of this paper is to highlight the mechanisms which favor the division of cognitive labor. Cognitive modularity furthers knowledge decentralization. The modular structures?appearance is justified by externalities?production to which it gives rise. These are the mechanisms which constitute the markets for knowledge foundations. We analyse them like quasi-markets because they request qualitative coordination between the knowledge producer and the user. Classification JEL : L1, L2.
