6. L’orientation active : une aide efficace pour choisir ses études ?

Active guidance policy consists, in its most common version, in providing advice to high-school students on their enrollment choices in higher education. Advices come from universities. They are based on schooling records. It departs from the idea that high-school students do not have all available information on the required schooling level in the different higher education tracks. A vast literature indicates that students make better choices when they receive more information on higher education. In this article, we detail how active guidance policy works and its expected impact in reducing mis-allocations in undergraduate studies. A first evaluation provides results consistent with those from the literature. The weakest students benefit the most from active guidance policy.
