Effets de la microassurance récolte sur la performance des petits producteurs de maïs au Burkina Faso : une étude exploratoire dans le village de Dandé

Abstract

Using a peer approach, the paper explores the impact of a crop microinsurance program, called Crop Insurance in the Sahel (CIS) on the performance of farmers in Burkina Faso. Comparison of groups of maize farmers, insured and non-insured, shows that the CIS improves access to microcredit and to fertilizers and results in an increase in the areas planted with maize. This stimulates production. However, the yield is slightly higher for the non-insured farmers.
