La crise économique et financière de 2008 et l’aide à la santé : les effets de la crise sur la mobilisation des bailleurs

Abstract

The economic and financial crisis of 2008 has been accompanied by a growing concern among health agents in developing countries: has the development assistance for health declined? This paper answers this question based on an analysis of health assistance flows provided by members of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC), showing that the economic and financial crisis has not led to a decline in donor commitments. In particular, the level of commitment from DAC countries in terms of health aid has been broadly higher than in 2007, the year before the crisis. The allocation between sectors has also remained virtually unchanged since 2007. Nonetheless, our analyses show an aid fatigue.
