Les instruments alternatifs de couverture des risques climatiques en agriculture : une opportunité pour les pays en développement ?

Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the issue of insurance against climatic risks in agriculture. We first discuss the reasons of market incompleteness and its consequences on social welfare and development. Then we consider existing and forthcoming solutions, with a particular focus on both the desirability of government intervention and the opportunities offered by alternative instruments for covering climatic risks such as climatic index insurance.
