Abstract

This article deals with the evolution of the issue of monopoly and of big firms in Joan Robinson's writings. This issue reveals her growing distance from the hypothesis and the approach method of economic phenomenons which are the basis of liberal orthodoxy. This methodological rupture (after 1933) leads to the explanation according to which monopoly constitutes a logic and natural end of competition struggle. Joan Robinson thought is also constructive: this text underlines her place in the development of theories of the firm and the actuality of her analysis of big firms' power in situation of monopoly and oligopoly
