Adoption des services financiers mobiles : une application à la ville de Yaoundé

Abstract

This study proposes to analyze both the adoption of mobile financial services (MFS) and the intensity of this adoption in the city of Yaoundé. More precisely, based on data collected from 1,200 individuals, it first attempts to profile MFS adopters according to their different modes of adoption, and then to identify the explanatory factors of adoption intensity. Thus, using a multinomial logistic regression model, it compares the probabilities of partial adoption and passive adoption versus the basic alternative chosen: complete adoption. Then, using a Poisson model, it identifies the determinants of MFS adoption intensity. Finally, a control function approach is used to correct unobserved heterogeneity. The results of this study reveal that socio-economic factors such as age, socio-professional status, level of education, and functional and extra-functional factors such as perceived ease of use, perceived safety, and perceived usefulness differentially affect both the different modes of MFS adoption and the adoption intensity of these services in Yaoundé.
