Économie des conflits : revue de la littérature et guide à l’intention des acteurs de l’aide extérieure

Abstract

This current literature review essay aims to provide an overview on the recent academic literature on the economics of conflict, covering both the main consequences and root causes of civil warfare. Given the large size of this booming literature, the essay will be necessarily selective. In particular, a special focus lies on findings of practical use for the international foreign aid community. Specifically, cutting-edge forecasting tools will be discussed, allowing to better protect daily operations. The essay also reviews recent empirical evidence on policies and particular development programs and initiatives that appear promising or not to curb conflict. Codes JEL : D74, O10, Q34.
