Abstract

Using a detailed panel data on 1302 Moroccan communes from 2005 to 2009, this paper aims to demonstrate empirically the existence of strategic interactions between the decisions of local government in Morocco. Our results highlighted that fiscal choices of communes are influenced by choices taken in neighbouring communes, mainly between urban communes. Therefore, decentralization induces strategic interactions between communes belonging to the same range in developing countries as well as in developed countries. Codes JEL : H71, H72, H77.
