40 rokov ASEAN. Ako ďalej?

Abstract

V druhej polovici novembra sa v Singapure konal každoročný summit ASEAN, združenia desiatich štátov juhovýchodnej Ázie. Účastníci 13. summitu naň prišli so zámerom podpísať formálny dokument - Chartu, ktorá by ich mala užšie spojiť a zaviazať k dodržiavaniu noriem demokracie a rešpektovania ľudských práv. Súčasne prijali Plán na vytvorenie Ekonomického spoločenstva členov ASEAN do roku 2015 a Deklaráciu ku klimatickým zmenám. Summit bol významný aj tým, že si ASEAN tohto roku pripomína 40. výročie založenia. Avšak väčšina pozornosti vonkajšieho sveta sa sústredila na čiernu ovcu ASEAN – Barmu, ktorá dlhodobo porušuje ľudské práva a barmská vláda v septembri tohto roku brutálne potlačila pokojné protivládne protesty. Cestu ASEAN k naplneniu svojich cieľov v určenom termíne môžu skomplikovať niektoré politické či ekonomické prekážky. Podarí sa členským krajinám ASEAN aj napriek niektorým problémom naplniť svoje ciele?
