Perspectives Of The European Migration Policy After The Migration Wave Of 2015. Part 1

The present article consists of two parts. The first part deals with the European Union's immediate responses to the migration crisis. In Greece and Spain, the EU has started building hotspots aimed at registering refugees to prevent an uncontrolled influx of immigrants from third countries. The insufficient number of staff to protect the external borders of the Schengen area has opened up long-delayed topics, such as creating a common European army, a uniform migration policy or humanitarian and political cooperation with third countries. In an effort to prevent the 2015 situation, the European Commission presented in 2020 the New Pact on Migration and Asylum. The Pact's flexibility aims to prevent the biggest problems of migration and an emergence of another political crisis between EU Member States due to the compulsory redistribution of refugees. These aspects of European migration policy are addressed in the first part of the article.
