Abstract

Thousands of members elect meetings of representatives - this means that electronic voting in the sense of online voting is the obvious way to exploit efficiency potential and offer modern participation rights. At the same time, however, current court decisions show that judiciary has considerable scepticism about electronic voting procedures and that legal limits may therefore exist. The question arises as to whether Internet-based voting procedures are even conceivable against this background and which framework conditions need to be taken into account when designing online elections in the area of cooperatives.
