Abstract

With products becoming increasingly exchangeable and markets reaching their saturation limits customer orientation has become an integral tool for companies’ economic success. While customer orientation in a traditional corporate context has been researched extensively and a number of measurement approaches have been developed, there has not yet been any research concerning customer orientation in the sharing economy. As sharing economy businesses operate differently in companies with a traditional corporate background, it is considered that not all indicators of customer orientation in traditional enterprises also apply to companies of the sharing economy. Therefore, in this research those differences were investigated to suggest indicators of customer orientation in the sharing economy and test them upon their practical relevance in peer-to-peer marketplaces.
