Abstract

This paper deals with contemporary trends in the use of satellite imagery for the purpose of the forest cover mapping. The ratio between closed canopy of forest stands and the results of its evaluation according to the global forest map have been investigated. Prerequisites for using the map in conditions of the Ukrainian Polissya have been grounded.
