Determinantes y usos del flujo de remesas familiares recibidas: El caso de Bolivia

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene el propósito de conocer los factores que determinan el flujo de remesas familiares recibidas y evaluar el uso o destino de estos recursos en la economía nacional. Para conseguir el primer objetivo se aplica un modelo de datos de panel y vector de corrección de errores (VEC) cuyos resultados denotan que el comportamiento de las remesas se explica por el desempeño positivo de ciertos sectores de las economías emisoras de estos recursos (en particular los sectores de Servicios, Construcción y Manufactura). Estos hallazgos son sustentados con un análisis de sincronización de ciclos económicos entre las variables de interés. Para cumplir el segundo objetivo, se realiza el análisis de la Encuesta de Hogares y un posterior cálculo de probabilidades de transición à la Markov, mostrando que el principal destino de las remesas familiares recibidas es el consumo; sin embargo, con el paso del tiempo se observa un incremento en la probabilidad de invertir estos recursos.
