Produktiebesturing: beslissen zonder gissen?

Abstract

The problem of controlling productionlevels, productionseries and stocks can be solved in different ways. In many cases, however, it is necessary to realise that both production and deliveries are stochastic variables. Therefore it is impossible to make exact forecasts of the number of products that will be produced per unit of time and the quantities demanded by the customers. In spite of these facts the whole chain of activities (consisting of production, inventories and demand) must be kept under control. This can be done by using the inventory‐level as a useful source of information concerning the cumulative deviations which occur both in production and sales. The feedback of this stock‐level‐information is necessary in practical planning‐procedures. This can be proved easily.
