The third circuit of the spatial economy: Determinants of public policy in Latin America

This study aims to explore the intersection between the formal, the informal and the illegal economy from a spatial perspective, arguing that the conjunction of these dimensions has had a substantial impact on the territory, creating large grey areas where local economic relationships are transformed by global market dynamics. Although the phenomenon of informality and its relationship with formality has been widely studied, the present study introduces a third element, allowing the resulting complexity among the three circuits to be examined, and, thereby, enabling the identification of the spatial transformations that take place in Latin American cities. El objeto de este estudio es explorar la intersección entre la economía formal, la informal y la ilegal desde una perspectiva espacial, argumentando que la conjunción de estas dimensiones ha tenido un impacto sustancial en el territorio que ha creado grandes “áreas grises” donde las relaciones económicas locales se transforman debido a la dinámica del mercado global. Si bien el fenómeno de la informalidad y su relación con la formalidad ha sido ampliamente estudiado, el presente estudio introduce un tercer elemento que permite examinar la complejidad resultante entre los tres circuitos y, por lo tanto, identificar las transformaciones espaciales que tienen lugar en las ciudades latinoamericanas. 本稿では、フォーマル経済、インフォーマル経済、そして違法経済の共通点を空間的な観点から探索すること目的とし、これら経済の側面が組み合わさり、グローバル市場のダイナミクスによって地域の経済関係が変形される大きなグレーゾーンを作りながら、地域に大きな影響を与えてきたことを主張する。インフォーマリティの現象とそのフォーマリティとの関係は、これまで広く研究されてきたが、本研究では、結果として生じる3つの回路の複雑さを調べることができるよう第3の要素を導入し、それによりラテンアメリカの都市で起こる空間的変形の同定を可能にする。
