Abstract

ABSTRACT As socioeconomic systems become more complex, we must be alert to new and innovative conceptual approaches. Among these, object orientation is argued to have especially high potential for modeling in fields where simulation can play an important role. Programming languages and graphical software tools supporting object‐oriented modeling are beginning to dominate. The three‐prolonged development of conceptual approach, supporting software, and computing hardware enhances our ability to model and understand the behaviour of increasingly complex socioeconomic systems. This paper presents the fundamental elements of object oriented modeling, and advocated its use in Regional Science.
