Information Flows Between Australia And Japan

Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper aims to provide a basic awareness of the nature and significance of technological information flows between Australia and Japan. While there has been a good deal of research into Australia‐Japan trade in goods, the concept of information flows is much broader and has been neglected. The domestic information economies in Australia and Japan are briefly compared and contrasted, then a typology of international technology information flows is delineated. Basic data and conceptual issues concerning aspects of measurement relevant to each category are presented. In the concluding section, some implications for economic theory and policy are discussed.
