A Bayesian Analysis of Some Pharmacological Data Using a Random Coefficient Regression Model

Abstract

Extensive measurements of various haemodynamic functions were taken on a number of dogs under control and drug conditions by researchers at the Midhurst Medical Research Institute, the object being to assess the magnitude of a possible direct pharmacological effect of drug on myocardial oxygen consumption. A random coefficient regression model is adopted, and extensions of currently available results are given which permit a Bayesian analysis of these data. It is further argued that the formulae given in this paper should be generally adopted for fitting models of this type.
