A Critical Examination of Simon's Model of Certain Distribution Functions in Linguistics

Abstract

In this article Dr Herdan considers some of the pitfalls which lie in the paths of those who construct mathematical models, with particular reference to the study of linguistics. He then shows how some of the properties of word frequency distributions can be explained.
