Regulatory development in the U.S

Abstract

In the recent past we have seen some of the most dramatic structural and regulatory changes in the U.S. telecommunications industry—more than in its entire history. The last few years have been a period that has also seen significant judicial action and the establishment of ground rules which will set the future development of the industry. Both the courts—via the AT&T divestiture—and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have been extremely busy in terms of the number and the significance of decisions made. These changes are addressed in terms of how the industry is being restructured and what changes can be anticipated. © 1986 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
