KWOC indexes and vocabulary comparisons of summaries of LC and DC classification schedules

Abstract

KWOC indexes based on summaries of the Library of Congress and Dewey Decimal classification schedules were prepared and the keyword vocabularies assembled in a side‐by‐side comparison. The indexes and the vocabulary comparison are briefly described and evaluated; significant differences in vocabulary are observed. The project serves as a demonstration of one method of examining editorial bias.
