Accommodation of Nonstandard Entries in a Serial List Made by Computer

Abstract

The need to merge computerized lists of serials described with two major and apparently mutually exclusive forms of entry required special programs for automatic generation of alternative entry and cross‐references. These programs made it possible to create a union list without losing the capability of using a different form of entry for special libraries, two of which were involved in this study.
