Abstract

Globally, the correlation between beauty ideals and thinness, further amplified by the influential presence of social media, has contributed to the increasing prevalence of eating disorders. Eating disorders, which are interrelated to preoccupations over one’s body image and body weight, give rise to a number of medical, functional, social, and mental health complications, hence presenting substantial dangers to the overall well-being of the general population. This study conducted a comprehensive assessment of more than 50 scholarly articles pertaining to the topic, with the aim of assessing the present status of eating disorders and exploring the existing initiatives in the prevention and treatment of such diseases.
