Evolución de la demanda de gas natural en 2022-2023

Abstract

Motivación Ante la emergencia energética por la guerra de Ucrania resulta pertinente analizar el comportamiento del consumo de este producto energético por parte de hogares, empresas y sector eléctrico durante ese año y principios del 2023 para caracterizar los cambios de patrón como coyunturales o estructurales. Ideas principales •El año 2022 fue más cálido de lo habitual, circunstancia que, si bien motivó la contracción de la demanda de gas por parte de los hogares en el primer semestre de 2022, no fue suficiente para explicar la mayor caída del segundo semestre. A lo largo del primer cuatrimestre de 2023, el consumo volvió a su patrón habitual en relación con la temperatura. •La demanda de gas por parte de las empresas experimentó una caída respecto a lo habitual a partir de abril de 2022, y se mantuvo durante el primer cuatrimestre de 2023. En parte, este menor consumo se puede atribuir a mejoras en eficiencia energética e inversiones en energías renovables llevadas a cabo por las empresas. •Por el contrario, en 2022 la demanda de gas natural del sector eléctrico fue la más alta de los últimos años, debido a una baja generación hidráulica y de cogeneración, y, especialmente, a las exportaciones de electricidad a otros países por motivos coyunturales.
