Merre tovább, Európai Unió?

Abstract

Az elmúlt 25 évben lényeges változások történtek a világban. Nyugat Európa, amely a XX. század elejéig a világgazdaság központja, a fejlődési tendenciák meghatározója volt, elveszítette vezető szerepét. A világgazdaság többpólusúvá vált, és ebben már nem a legerősebb a kibővült Nyugat-Európa (a mai Európai Unió). A feltörekvő gazdaságok (BRICS-országok [Brasil, Russia, India, China és 2010-től Republic of South Africa]) gyors fejlődése, térnyerése, továbbá az Egyesült Államok integrációs törekvései okán kialakult nagyobb gazdasági ereje egy új világgazdasági rend kialakítását követeli. Mit tehet ebben a helyzetben az Európai Unió?
