Pesca ancestral en las islas Lobos: su contribución a la seguridad alimentaria, ingreso familiar, empleo local e identidad cultural

Abstract

Entre mayo de 2021 y 2022 se desarrolló un diagnóstico socioeconómico y sociocultural de la pesca en caballito de totora y balsilla en la costa norperuana, incluyendo los alrededores de las islas Lobos de Tierra y Lobos de Afuera. Mediante entrevistas a 90 personas se encontró que esta pesca es casi inexistente en la zona insular, limitándose solo a áreas costeras. Asimismo, se encontró que hombres y mujeres trabajan de manera complementaria, los primeros extrayendo el recurso y las segundas vendiéndolo. Esta pesca está directamente relacionada con la seguridad alimentaria, ya que suministra pescado y marisco principalmente a las familias de las comunidades aledañas a las caletas. A pesar de las diversas dificultades que afronta, debido principalmente a la depredación de los recursos marinos por métodos ilegales, existe en el Perú un mínimo de 627 pescadores de caballito de totora y 2792 de balsilla, quienes representan un testimonio viviente de la pesca ancestral.
