Recursos naturales, diversificación y crecimiento regional en el Perú

Abstract

Basado en la red de espacio de productos de exportación e indicadores de recursos naturales (RN) del Perú y sus regiones, este trabajo presenta las principales características de la composición de productos de exportación y analiza la validez de la hipótesis de la maldición de los efectos de RN sobre el crecimiento, empleo y diversificación de los productos de exportación. Sujeto a las limitaciones de información y métodos, la evidencia indica que las medidas del capital natural han incidido positivamente en el crecimiento regional, el empleo de solo el sector primario, y la concentración de productos de exportación. De otro lado, la composición de las exportaciones presenta una alta concentración en pocos productos intensivos en el uso de RN, muy distantes unos de otros, altos niveles de productividad internacional relativos, y dispone de un enorme potencial de productos de exportación aún no explotados o descubiertos.
