Brechas de género en el ingreso: una mirada más allá de la media en el sector agropecuario

Abstract

El objetivo de la investigación es doble. Por un lado, se documenta la brecha de género en el ingreso en el Perú para los años 2004 y 2011 en el ámbito rural agropecuario, tanto a nivel de la media como en los cuantiles de la distribución del ingreso. Por otro lado, se analizan sus determinantes y formulan recomendaciones de política. Nuestros cálculos muestran que la brecha de género es heterogénea a través de los diferentes cuantiles, siendo mayor en los de menor ingreso. En cuanto a los determinantes de la brecha se encuentra que la vida en pareja reduce fuertemente la capacidad de las mujeres de generar ingreso en comparación con los hombres. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del XIV Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2012, con el auspicio del Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés) y la Fundación Manuel J. Bustamante de la Fuente.
