Una mirada de largo plazo a la economía campesina en los Andes

Abstract

Este estudio aprovecha la oportunidad excepcional de poder revisitar dos zonas consideradas como la “región tradicional” “región moderna” en varios de los estudios de economía campesina que se desarrollaron a inicios de la década del ochenta. A partir de ello, se muestra cómo las políticas públicas y los cambios en la estructura económica e institucional que dichas políticas generaron han afectado la manera cómo la economía campesina modificó su estilo de articulación a los mercados de trabajo, de productos y de factores. El estudio pretende, a partir de este análisis de largo plazo, alimentar la discusión de cómo diseñar mejores programas basados en una estructura de incentivos que mejore la capacidad de los productores para enfrentar a los mercados locales, regionales y nacionales. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del X Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2008, con el auspicio de la Agencia Canadiense para el Desarrollo Internacional (ACDI), Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés), y el Banco Scotiabank.
