Titulación de reservas minerales: financiamiento para pequeña y mediana minería

Abstract

La investigación tiene por finalidad proponer los elementos de una forma de financiamiento denominada titulización aplicada a la mediana y eventualmente pequeña minería, aquel sector productivo que podría encontrar en la titulización una opción de financiamiento para sus proyectos, nuevos o en marcha, a través del mercado de capitales optimizando condiciones con menor costo financiero. La propuesta consiste en sustentar la emisión de bonos titulizados sobre un activo subyacente constituido por reservas minerales. Se analiza el sistema de capital de riesgo para empresas mineras “junior”, instrumento de inversión en exploración en minería recientemente creado por la Bolsa de Valores de Lima, para encontrar en la titulización una forma adicional o de suplencia al mecanismo ya existente en determinados escenarios que podrían presentarse. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del V Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2003, con el auspicio de la Agencia Canadiense para el Desarrollo Internacional (ACDI) y el Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés).
