Los agentes de socialización y su influencia sobre la sexualidad en los adolescentes de Arequipa

Abstract

Son muchos los riesgos en salud sexual y reproductiva a los que están expuestos los adolescentes al iniciarse sexualmente, por no contar con la debida información y por las barreras que existen para acceder a servicios de salud. Esto los ubica en una situación de mayor vulnerabilidad respecto a la demás población. Lo que preocupa a instituciones vinculadas con el tema y a la sociedad civil, es que pese a los múltiples esfuerzos realizados desde el Estado e instituciones privadas, la situación no ha mejorado: el embarazo adolescente, el aborto y las infecciones de transmisión sexual, son amenazas que la población adolescente tiene que enfrentar en la vivencia de su sexualidad. En esta investigación se da cuenta de las percepciones y prácticas que los adolescentes de Arequipa vienen asumiendo respecto a su sexualidad y cómo los diversos agentes socializadores están influenciando en este proceso. Este estudio se desarrolló como resultado del IX Concurso Anual de Investigación CIES 2007, con el auspicio de la Agencia Canadiense para el Desarrollo Internacional (ACDI) y el Centro Internacional de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo (IDRC, por sus siglas en inglés).
