Abstract

The research is aimed at developing, substantiating and testing a methodology for constructing an integral indicator for assessing regional sustainable development. The indicators were grouped into three main areas (subsets): economy, ecology and level life, and each direction consisted of 4 indicators. All data for calculating the indicator are taken from official statistics. Expert evaluation is not used. The research methodology is based on the calculation of the integral stability indicator. The study reflects a comprehensive approach to assessing the efforts of Kazakhstan's regional authorities to achieve sustainability at the sub-national level. The study lays the foundation for a regular analysis of sustainability and its dynamics in Kazakhstan's regions, which will assess the current state and development potential in Kazakhstan's regions and can serve to improve regional socio-economic policy.
