Abstract

Weaknesses in risk culture are often considered a root cause of the global financial crisis. Establishing and maintaining a strong risk culture is of fundamental importance for banks and supervisors, also through specific assessment methodologies. These include the methodology based on the framework defined by the Financial Stability Board (2014). An analysis carried out on a sample of European banks show that it is possible to measure the risk culture and that a sound risk culture can also improve economic and financial performances
