Abstract

This text tries to underline the cultural practices of Criterionbeginning from his conferences upon the problem of Idols (Lenin and Mussolini). As a matter of fact, this cultural practice is an exercise of thinking critically the identity, resuscitating the collective memory. This relationship between identity and memory, as the mark of anamnesis, regulates the function mechanism of any elite beware of the cultural destiny of his proper nation. Thus, the critical analysis of these symbolic figures, through the process of demystification, is important especially when the members of Criterion insist on the major consequences of such mythography that turns into idolatry, by suppressing the human freedom and the critical spirit.
