Metadata remediation through migration, post-migration or necessary clean-up: A roadmap for success

Abstract

Metadata clean-up (or remediation) projects can be time-consuming, stressful and, at some point, inevitable if metadata are retained. Having a plan before starting is paramount not only to a successful project, but also to prevent the waste of valuable resources. As this paper will show, determining which aspects of a clean-up project are most important is the key to ending the project with quality metadata — regardless of the metadata schema or metadata management system or the rationale for the clean-up.
