Abstract

This paper focuses on research into survey standards for workflow analysis with respect to the production of quality products in a consistent and timely manner; in other words, using a ‘quality management system’. Using the example of a cultural heritage digitisation workflow in an academic library setting, the paper demonstrates the merit of thinking systematically about procedural quality and discusses the first steps towards that end. The paper presents a general overview of some of the quality management systems currently available, and provides advice to help organisations assess, select and implement the right system.
