Managing video content in an ‘always on’ world

Author

Listed:
  • Verrell, Mike

Abstract

The current explosion of video content is a double-edged sword for organisations. While video may create new opportunities to engage with audiences, it also brings a plethora of challenges, not least of which is the sheer volume and speed at which this content is created, uploaded and shared. As a result, today’s digital and marketing professionals are under considerable pressure to keep track of who is doing what and where within the organisation while ensuring that industry regulation and rights protection is taking place. Keeping track of this potential tangle of content requires a high calibre of content management, and digital asset management plays a key role in achieving this. The paper also includes a detailed example from Discovery Education to illustrate best practice, not just in terms of video, but managing a complex and fast-moving content creation and publishing environment.
