Abstract

The engineer and inventor Eugen Statnic was a Romanian Homo Creator. He came from Orthodox parents from the south of Bessarabia, with multi-ethnic roots. Born in 1929 in Pripiceni-Razesi, Orhei county, Romania, he worked in his country for 28 years - in industry and research, of which 20 years at Electronics Factory in Bucharest, in the field of Radio and Television, becoming an excellent specialist in semiconductor electronics. He played a major role in the creation of Romanian color television, exported to several countries. He was the author of several international patents and edited, during his 55 years of engineering (1954-2009), 10 books on electronics. Eugen Statnic gave the world the “Dulux-EL” fluorescent lamp, developed in the years 1983-1985, which replaced Edison's 1883 incandescent bulb 100 years later. This new light source saves up to 80% of energy and lasts 10 times longer. In 2012-2020 he initiated, stimulated and materially supported the publication in Romanian of several history books (monographs, anthologies). He was also the author of five books on ancient and modern history.
