Implications of Intellectual Property Rights in Educating Consumers of Goods and Services on the Local Market

Abstract

Enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPRs) guarantees legality, safety and quality whrn purchasing and consuming goods and services, but can also be seen as a factor infrluencing consumer trust. The implications of IPRs for consumer education can be perceived due to their importance in ensuring the integrity, quality of goods and services, and also consumer safety. The article concludes that the protection offered by IPRs can be achieved through educational efforts focused on facilitating access to information, means and tools for public learning. Institutional initiatives are needed to balance IPRs enforcement against public needs, as well as comprehensive educational campaigns to raise awareness of the significance of IPRs. Stakeholders must be aware of the role of IPRs as an educational tool and, as appropriate, work together to achieve results.
