Enerji Tüketimi ve Ekonomik Büyüme İlişkisine Yenilenebilir Enerji Bağlamında Bir Öneri

Abstract

Türkiye’de sanayileşme ve nüfus artışına bağlı olarak enerji tüketimi de artmaktadır. Dolayısıyla enerji talebini karşılamak için enerji yatırımları yapılmakta ve özellikle son yıllarda yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarına yönelim artmaktadır. Her ne kadar literatürde alternatif sonuçları içeren çalışmalar yer alsa da, neoklasik büyüme teorisi bağlamında, ekonomik büyüme, enerji tüketimine bağlıdır. Yani enerji tüketiminin artması ekonomik büyümeyi artırmaktadır. Çalışmamızda 1965-2015 dönemi için termik, hidroelektrik ve jeotermal enerji tüketiminin ekonomik büyüme üzerinde etkili olup olmadığı araştırılmaktadır. Uygulanan birim kök testleri sonucunda ekonomik büyüme ve hidroelektrik enerji tüketimi değişkenlerinin durağan olduğu bulunmuştur. Ancak Jeotermal ve hidroelektrik enerji tüketimi serileri durağan dışıdır. Bu nedenle durağan dışı değişkenler Hodrick-Presscott filtrelemesi ile trendden arındırılarak durağanlaştırılmıştır. Uygulanan Granger nedensellik testi, hidroelektrik ve termik enerji tüketiminden büyümeye doğru tek yönlü bir nedensel ilişkisi olduğunu göstermektedir. Fakat jeotermal enerji tüketiminden büyümeye doğru bir nedenselliğe rastlanmamıştır. Varyans Ayrıştırması sonuçları ekonomik büyüme değişkeninin endojen olduğunu ve hidroelektrik enerji tüketiminin büyüme üzerinde termik ve jeotermal enerji tüketimine göre daha etkili olduğunu göstermektedir. Dolayısıyla çalışma, enerji tüketiminin ekonomik büyüme üzerinde etkili olduğunu bulan literatür çalışmalarıyla benzer sonuçlara ulaşmaktadır. İlaveten bir öneri olarak hidroelektrik enerjinin ekonomik büyüme üzerinde daha etkili olduğunu göstermektedir. O halde ekonomik büyümeyi desteklemek amacıyla, hidroelektrik enerjisine verilen önemin daha artması gerekmektedir.
