Abstract

Dit exploratieve onderzoek is gericht op de sociale motieven van Nederlandse accountants om voor het accountantsberoep te kiezen. Een belangrijke vraag in deze context is: hoe worden deze motieven mogelijk beïnvloed door generatieverschillen? De resultaten zijn niet alleen van belang om te begrijpen waarom accountants kiezen voor het accountantsberoep. Ze laten eveneens zien wat de veranderende motieven en verwachtingen betekenen voor de aansturing van verschillende generaties in de accountantspraktijk. Op basis van literatuuronderzoek zijn in dit onderzoek hypothesen geformuleerd over de verschillen in sociale waarden tussen generaties (X, Y en Z). De hypothesen zijn getoetst door middel van een survey onder accountants die werkzaam zijn (geweest) binnen de Nederlandse controlepraktijk. Uit het onderzoek blijkt dat er sprake is van een significant verschil tussen generatie X en Z in het belang van sociale waarden op het moment van hun keuze voor het accountantsberoep.
