A preliminary report of a methodology to assess the communicative interaction between hospital personnel and hospitalized children

Abstract

This study indicates that interaction analysis can be employed to reliably assess the communication between hospital personnel and hospitalized children. Also, a modification needed to improve the interaction analysis tool used to assess the communication in a pediatric hospital has been noted. And, the conditions under which a hospital staff would likely accept such analyses have been suggested. Further research employing the refined hospital interaction analysis instrument seems in order.
