Russian Foreign Direct Investment in Vietnam: Justification of Promising Areas

Abstract

The article presents a theoretical analysis of the motives for foreign direct investment, as well as factors that could increase investment flows between countries. The dynamics of mutual investment flows between Russia and Vietnam over 2012-2023 and the influencing factors are considered. The rationale for investment cooperation between Russia and Vietnam, in particular prospect for high-tech investments is provided. Promising high–tech industries of Vietnam are also specified, in terms of Russian outward foreign direct investment - shipbuilding and ship repair industry.
