European Union innovation activities

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of innovative activities of the European Union and some countries in particular. The definition of innovative activity is given and organization types in this sphere as well as the implemented innovation types are outlined. The development trend from 2010 to 2014 in view of the 2020 EU Development Strategy implementation and creation of the Innovative Union is noted. The main indicators reflecting the change in innovative activities are considered. Besides, the author gives assessment of the factors influencing the innovative activity growth and competitiveness strengthening. In conclusion, the general opinion on the Strategy implementation and its efficiency in terms of innovative activity intensification with suggestions for innovative activity development in Russia are presented.
