Abstract

The article deals with the meditative competence of international law students, which along with linguistic, discursive, information, subject-matter, sociocultural, strategic and motivational competences constitutes the model of professionally focused foreign language communicative competence of the above-mentioned future specialists. The meditative competence allows lawyers who belong to different language and legal systems to make translations and perform other forms of language mediation in their professional field. The author justifies the importance of the meditative competence, singles out necessary knowledge and skills for its formation and suggests a system of exercises aimed at teaching translation and other types of language mediation.
