Abstract

The article examines investments in fixed assets in Russian economy during recent years. It is indicated that domestic economy is experiencing a chronic shortage of investments. The authors underlines that a significant gap between gross savings and gross investments can be a potential source of the investments' growth. Therefore, the possibility of state and private investing is estimated. It is concluded, that Russian state and Russian business has some financial resources and are able to improve the investment situation. Meanwhile there is a lack of efficient mechanisms, which can transfer capital flows inside the country and stimulate foreign direct investments. Most economic actors actually have no funds for technological renewal. This situation creates difficulties in overcoming current economic crises, slow down economic growth and prevents modernization and diversification of national economy.
